It's one thing to deploy a single self-service kiosk or ATM, but what about a larger rollout? Not just of a few locations but a national kiosk rollout of hundreds or even thousands of kiosks? How can operators manage this type of deployment? That's a question a panel of experts will address at the Automated Retail & Kiosk Innovation Show held from Dec. 10 to 12 in Tampa, Florida.

This panel, entitled "Mastering the Deployment of a National Kiosk Rollout," will compile experts who have succeeded in this endeavor, such as retailers and a specialized reseller. Sandra Nix, president and CEO of Connected Technology Solutions will moderate the panel with panelists Rob Aubey, director of TechOps and supply chain logistics at Bicycle Transit Systems, Kevin Miranda, senior product manager at Venu+ and Patrick Pennington, enterprise account executive at CERTIFY Health.

During the panel, Aubey, Miranda and Pennington will share practical advice on the following topics:

  • Deployment strategizing.
  • Balancing standardization with local customization.
  • Finding the right partners.
  • Creating an actionable blueprint.

When asked by Kiosk Maketplace what the biggest challenge was with a kiosk rollout, Aubey pointed to the importance of finding the right locations.

"One of our biggest challenges is recognizing appropriate siting locations for the deployment of our docks/kiosks at stations in our bike share cities. Because our docks/kiosks are IoT devices needing access to the cellular network environment, it is important that a siting location has viable and sustained cellular network availability. Deploying our docks/kiosks in dense city environments can be challenging if there is a lot of signal interference," Aubey said in an email interview.

He added he was deeply excited to discuss the importance of finding a great kiosk manufacturer and partner to guide you through the process of a kiosk deployment.

"Our relationship with our dock/kiosk manufacturer is very important. Connected Technology Solutions, CTS, is integral in the manufacturing and assembly of our docks," Aubey said. "Without their internal engineering and QC department managing the assembly and validation of each device's network access capabilities, we would not be able to deploy units as quickly and as confidently as we do."
