No one wants to drive to an ATM or kiosk only to find out that it's not working due to a power issue. With downtime comes lost sales and a bad customer experience. In a webinar hosted by ATM Marketplace and Kiosk Marketplace, sponsored by Switch Always On, Micah Larsen, sales director for Switch Always On discussed with moderator Bradley Cooper on the causes of downtime on self-service machines and how to prevent it.

During the webinar, Larsen said the most common causes of downtime were:

  • Misconfiguration issues at 18%.
  • Network connectivity issues at 14%.
  • Software application errors at 12%.
  • Power supply issues at 11%.
  • Operating system problems at 11%.

He pointed out these issues can impact vending machines, digital signage, smart coolers, EV chargers and other devices. These in turn can cost businesses a lot of money as they have to send out service workers for power or connectivity related issues.

In order to solve this, Larsen spoke about the importance of picking a great reboot solution with a variety of features including:

  • Cellular backup.
  • Battery backup.
  • Self-healing.
  • Automated reboot profiles.
  • Power scheduling/sequencing.

"The right remote reboot solution can make you more profitable, help you expand your enterprise with fewer service calls, and make you more money," Larsen said in the webinar.
