Searchable touchscreen digital sign honors fallen soldiers at Pa. cemetery

Dec. 12, 2012

At Prospect Hill Cemetery in York, Pa., a 46-inch touchscreen digital sign was installed as a memorial to the more than 6,000 soldiers killed in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Livewire Digital provided its eConcierge digital signage content management system to power the display's rotation of photos, while KioWare donated a license to its security software.

Families of the fallen submit the images of their lost loved ones, ranging from birthday parties to holiday gatherings, to show a personal side of the soldiers, the announcement said. Visitors to the memorial can search the granite-encased hi-bright LCD touchscreen by name, state, branch of service and date of death to pull up a particular fallen soldier profile.

Gold Star families of fallen soldiers may send pictures to fallenheroes@prospecthill.org for inclusion in the digital signage display.

"Livewire Digital is proud to be a sponsor of the memoria," Livewire CEO David McCracken said in the announcement. "These men and women have made the ultimate sacrifice for all Americans, and this is just one small way to pay tribute to them."
