ScriptCenter kiosk approved for use in New Jersey hospitals

Asteres Inc., a provider of automated pharmacy kiosks, announced yesterday that the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy approved the company’s ScriptCenter kiosk for 24/7 prescription pick-up in hospitals and health care facilities, according to a press release.

The ScriptCenter was piloted at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center under close monitoring by the pharmacy board. After review of the program, the Board voted unanimously to approve usage of the ScriptCenter kiosk, with plans for other locations and hospitals to pilot the system as well.

The kiosk offers the same services as traditional pharmacies. Through the ScriptCenter, employees create a one-time user-ID and PIN for login and then enter prescriptions. The pharmacy fills the script and loads it into the kiosk, where the employee can pick it up at any time.

"We are so excited to have 24/7 prescription pickup in our suite of team member services," said Robert Schenk, manager of ambulatory pharmacy services. "Now our third shift team members will have the same access to the hospital's in-house pharmacy, and all team members can quickly drop off and pick up prescriptions at their convenience. ScriptCenter allows us to better service our team members and grow our pharmacy without having to increase our labor costs."
