Report: Wincor Nixdorf is Europe's largest supplier of self-service checkout machines

Wincor Nixdorf AG, the Paderborn, Germany, technology company, is Europe's No. 1 supplier of machines used in self-service checkout at retail locations, according to a report issued by Retail Banking Research, a London-based strategic-marketing firm.
Based on shipments in 2009, Wincor Nixdorf controlled 46 percent of the self-service checkout market, reports Retail Banking Research. Wincor Nixdorf's sales were particularly strong in Belgium, the United Kingdom and France. Worldwide, Wincor Nixdorf controls 15 percent of the self-service checkout market, making the company the third-largest supplier, Retail Banking Research reports.
"This success shows that we are on the right path, providing tailored checkout solutions to meet the individual demands of retail companies," Leyla Feghni, Wincor Nixdorf's retail marketing director, said in a statement. Wincor Nixdorf is the world's second-largest supplier of ATMs based on annual shipments.
