The Allen County (Indiana) Treasurer's office recently announced that its new self-pay tax kiosk is now available for public use, according to The (Fort Wayne, Ind.) Journal Gazette. "As far as we know, we are the very first Treasurer office in our country to offer this kind of tax payment option," Allen County Treasurer Susan Orth said in the announcement.

"Many tasks people perform each day, they do self-serve," Orth said. "They like the convenience, the speed and the control, and now we offer that same convenience to property tax payers."

The new self-serve kiosk is bilingual, will accept cash payments and make change, accept checks, credit cards or a combination of those payment types, the article said.

"To use the kiosk, one simply scans their tax bill or searches and selects their property, enters payment, takes their change and receipt, and that's all there is to it," Orth said.
