California-based AVT Inc. announced today that it has developed a new wall-mounted automated medicine and information dispensing system. The system can give consumers drug information and also provide samples within a doctor's office.
Featuring a 32-inch touchscreen display that gives consumers the product information, AVT's system can be developed with customizable graphics and programmed to deliver product information, samples or both, according to the announcement.
Manufactured from galvanized steel, the tamper-proof system safeguards the up to 300 items inside with security devices that include a Web camera, drop sensors and photosensor position controls.
"Giving pharmaceutical companies and physicians the ability to deliver product information and samples through a self-service system will improve consumer awareness and knowledge about important medicines," said Shannon Illingworth, founder and chairman of AVT. "With the AVT system, product information is readily available on an LED screen, and samples can be dispensed when authorized — helping empower consumers and enabling them to work with their doctor in developing a customized health plan."
