ATLANTA — With the placement of SoloHealth's first EyeSite kiosk at a Cumming, Ga. Wal-Mart earlier this year, more than 6,000 north Georgians took the opportuinity to get a simple vision test. Statistics revealed that thirty percent had never visited an eye-care professional for an examination, and 80 percent who used the kiosk were recommended to see an eye-care provider.
The EyeSite kiosk provides vision-health information and customized vision reports. It is not designed to replace an eye exam, but to accurately assess distance and near-vision.
According to a news release, SoloHealth is in the early stages of testing self-service vision screening in several markets to bring more awareness to regular eye exams. SoloHealth plans to launch its kiosks in high traffic retail locations such as Wal-Mart stores.
