SoloHealth announced today that it has made a pledge to the William J. Clinton Foundation's 2013 Clinton Health Matters Initiative. SoloHealth joins GE, Humana and Tenet Healthcare Corp. in a pledge to improve the health and well-being of people across the U.S.

The pledge focuses on activating individuals, communities and organizations to make meaningful contributions to the health of others, the company said in the announcement. SoloHealth also has committed to build and distribute a tobacco-cessation educational module across its SoloHealth Stations, which are situated in retail locations including Walmart and Sam's Club stores.

The tobacco module on the SoloHealth Station kiosk will ask a series of questions intended to determine the quantity and frequency of tobacco use, as well as reasons for continued usage. From the results, the user can see how much they spend annually to maintain their habits, as well as healthy alternatives, the announcement said.

The announcement comes following the close of last Tuesday's 2013 Health Matters: Activating Wellness in Every Generation Conference, hosted by President Bill Clinton in La Quinta, Calif. Pledges announced at the 2013 Health Matters Conference total more than $100 million in investments in disease prevention and will impact more than 25 million people across the U.S., the announcement said. The SoloHealth pledge is valued at $1 million.

"We are absolutely thrilled and honored to work with President Clinton and his foundation for this most noble and inspiring initiative," CEO Bart Foster said. "As leaders in the health care space, we have the responsibility to tackle the issues that lead toward making our world healthier. We look forward to rolling out our smoking-cessation program and our ongoing efforts with the Foundation and its Clinton Health Matters Initiative."
