A coin-counting kiosk at Rio Bank in South Texas is helping the Salvation Army count donations from its Red Kettle Campaign. The Cummins Allison self-service coin counter allows bank customers to process 4,000 coins per minute, the announcement said.
Bank personnel were typically overwhelmed with coin processing during the holiday season and have found the kiosk to be a more efficient means. Beyond time savings, Rio Bank said it realized other benefits from implementing the kiosk that included new account relationships, improved teller cross-selling opportunities and a competitive advantage.
"Rio Bank has been able to differentiate itself from other banks in their market with highly accurate, high-quality lobby engagement tools such as self-service coin counters," said Doug Mennie, president of Cummins Allison. "Getting a coin machine in place quickly allowed Rio Bank to meet the needs of the Salvation Army during a hectic time of year as well as provide a unique, new service to customers. It was a win for everyone."
