Border crossing in Texas to reopen with kiosks permitting access

A border crossing location in Boquillas, Texas, will be reopened, with plans for the Customs and Border Patrol to remote-monitor the crossing while kiosks scan identification cards for access permission.

The station was historically popular with tourists and will only be open during daylight hours to accommodate foot traffic, according to humanevents.com. Anyone wishing to cross the border must present a passport, border-crossing card or permanent resident card.

"Remote technology would assist CBP in maintaining security and verifying the identity of those entering the United States, while also ensuring that they possess proper documentation to do so," said the Federal Register notice announcing the project, the article reported.
