Shoppers at malls throughout the country will experience new fitting room technology March 16 when Me-Ality—Measured Reality celebrates its official launch. The technology will be on display at Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa, Wis.; Cumberland Mall in Atlanta; Bridgewater Commons in Bridgewater, N.J.; and Water Tower Mall in Chicago.
Me-Ality size-matching kiosks allow consumers to find their best fit, with its free, fully-clothed, 10-second body scan. The station sends and receives safe, low-power radio waves and records 200,000 data points by bouncing these signals off the skin of a fully clothed consumer. Me-Ality then compares body measurements to garment sizing specifications, Tanya Shaw, president and CEO of Me-Ality, said in a company press release.
The scan identifies the fit, style, design and cut that best matches an individual's measurements. The process, which takes just 10 minutes to produce a personalized shopping guide of denim and pants, recommends the best sizes to buy and where to purchase the items at the mall, Shaw said.
Then, by creating a Me-Ality online profile, shoppers benefit from free updated shopping guides as new brands, styles and sizes are added; easier online shopping and other style choices that are available online or at other retailer locations.
The technology will be in more than 300 malls in the next two years, Shaw said.
