Visitors to the EDF Energy London Eye are learning about the city from kiosks consisting of Samsung tablets housed in Bouncepad flexible stands.
With six cradles needed for each of 32 capsules, London Eye commissioned Bouncepad to create 192 bespoke enclosures for the tablets within only eight weeks, according to a company press release. Each features an interactive, panoramic app allowing users to learn about the capital's landscape by zooming into landmarks and points of interest.
Bouncepad's trademark Gooseneck design permits users of all ages, heights and accessibility requirements to adjust the screen to the most comfortable possible viewing position, Tobi Schneidler, founder of The Bouncepad, said in the release. Unsightly cables are hidden within the support, while options can be included to hide function buttons, making it a practical kiosk solution. For installers, though, Bouncepad offers the advantage of combining sturdy materials like stainless steel and high-performance plastics with radio transparency – meaning that it can receive the WiFi and 3G signals necessary to take full advantage of modern tablet functionality.
"We were looking for functionality and security, so when the Bouncepad team brought their product into a London Eye capsule for the first time, it was clear that it was a natural fit," Davey Barrett, show services manager for EDF Energy London Eye, said in the release. "The design and simplicity of the Bouncepad complements the aesthethic of the London Eye, and the company provided us with a tailor-made solution in record time."
