  • 7-Eleven offers Vcom kiosk check cashing to H&R Block clients

DALLAS - H&R Block's clients seeking a convenient option to cash refund anticipation loan checks can now go to a 7-Eleven store equipped with the retailer's Vcom financial kiosk, according to a news release.

To make this much-needed service available, 7-Eleven (NYSE: SE) has designed an expedited process exclusively for H&R Block clients to approve checks, up to $7,500, and will provide clients with a competitive check-cashing fee.

Vcom, short for virtual commerce, is 7-Eleven's proprietary financial services kiosk currently located in more than 1,000 of its stores. The interactive, self-service machine allows customers to cash payroll, tax refund and government checks, conduct ATM transactions, money transfers, and purchase money orders and stored-value cards. The kiosk offers bilingual, touchscreen menus for easy navigation and multilingual, 24-hour customer service from a phone at the kiosk.

Kiosk users will be directed through a short series of touchscreen prompts to complete their 90-second, check-cashing transaction. They will receive cash for the face amount of the check minus a check-cashing fee.

More than 1,000 H&R Block offices are participating in this program. Clients can cash their tax loan check at any Vcom kiosk day or night as the service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

"Nearly 22.2 million households in America don't have checking accounts," said Tim Gokey, president of U.S. Tax for H&R Block. "When it comes to cashing a check, they need to have choices to select a service that is trustworthy, convenient and offers a fair and competitive price. 7-Eleven is one of several convenient, low-cost check-cashing options we're providing our clients this year to help them keep as much of their money as possible."

The program is available at participating 7-Eleven stores equipped with Vcom kiosks in Arizona, California, Colorado, Washington, D.C., Florida, Oregon, eastern Pennsylvania, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin-and Killeen-area stores in Texas, the Salt Lake City area of Utah, Richmond and southeastern Virginia and Washington state.
